direction of coolant flow?
When looking at the front of an lsx block where the water pump mounts, there is a round hole on top and a rectangular hole on bottom. So, does the coolant come out the right side of the block and back in the left? Or does it come out the round holes and go back in the rectangle ones?
Any insight would be helpful...

Both sides are independent for the most part. The coolant goes into the bottom holes (left and right) and around the cylinder sleeves then up through the head gasket in the rear of the block and forward in the heads around the combustion chambers and then out the top holes (left and right).
This is one reason I am not sure why guys add the rear crossover back in, it effective reduces the flow around the combustion chambers by circumventing them through the rear crossover and back to the front.
