Default When did the 58X trigger wheel come out?

What year did GM switch to the 58x crank trigger wheel?

What else went along with that? Was the LS4 the first VVT application?

I always thought it was 2006 as well but some here have said that there were some 2005 models that had it. Maybe a mid year production change? The color of the crank sensor that is mounted on the passenger side of the block is the key to telling. If it is black it ais a 24X and if it's gray it's a 58X. FWIW my LS2 is out of an '05 C6 and had a 24X

LS Reluctor Ring Applications

24x:
1997-2005 cars (except GTO, CTSV and a few others thru 2007)
1999-2007 trucks (old body style)

58x:
2006 and up cars (except LS4 and as select few others)
2007 and up trucks with single bolt cam applications and new body

There may be some other exceptions that are not listed above but this should cover most of the territory.
