Less carbon build-up???
Does anyone know if 91 octane fuel will actually burn cleaner than 87???
If there is less carbon build-up with 91, I will use it.
But, to the best of my limited knowledge it is just an anti-knock rating and will not have any effect on reducing carbon build-up.
Does anyone have any first hand experience with this???

There are a ton of factors involved. A lot depends on the RPM that the engine operated. Also load as well as RPM cycles will make a difference.
The head design, valve angle, combustion chamber all effect the swirl or tumble in the chanber.
From the fuel perspective a lower ocane fuel burns faster. But not knowing all the factors it's hard to venture a guess.
One thing is that you don't want to run any more octane rating that you need. If the engine is tuned or optimized for lower octane any additional occtane won't be a benifit.
But if the engine NEEDS more octane then it will he a lot happier with the slower burn rate of the higher octane fuel.
My opinon.
