Default LS3 cam suggestion?

What cam would most be suitable for me. I dont want to change pistons or any issues with piston to valve clearence. Will be using longtube 1 3/4" headers.

Not road car, track/drift car with manual transmission and pretty short gears, so usable power range can be in pretty high revs.

Lunati or Livernois would be most suitable from those cams, but other choices? I dont have to worry about idle or emissions.

Btw: What Lunati cam was used on that test, wouldn´t find that from Lunati webshop.

Why not get a GM Hot Cam, it did very good in the test and sounds like what you are looking for.

LS3 + Hot Cam = Loads of Fun.

What's Hot?

· Hot Cam!
· Big EFI power
· 24-month GMPP warranty
The hot new small block V8 in the GM lineup is the hyper-aggressive LS3. It offers a high-revving 376-inch combination that represents generations of small block V8 development and engineering. Not only is the LS3 an amazing engine in its stock configuration, but with those high-flowing rectangular port cylinder heads, the LS3 is loaded with potential. To tap into this potential, the engineers at GM Performance Parts offer you the LS 376/480 – an LS3 with an upgraded camshaft that ups power by a whopping 50 horsepower!
The LS 376/480 comes with the same great features as the LS3 crate engine. The bottom end includes a 6-bolt aluminum block, nodular crank, high performance rods, and 10.7:1 pistons. The heads are high-flowing rectangular-port units that share their design with the amazing LS7. The same EFI intake manifold feeds the hungry engine, while 1.7:1 roller rockers work with the upgraded camshaft.
The GM Performance Parts engineers picked the LS Hot Cam (p/n 12617570) to take the LS3 to the next level. This cam specs out with .525-inch intake and exhaust valve lift. Duration (@ .050 inches) is 219° intake and 228° exhaust. This cam allows for a dramatic increase in power across the power band while still maintaining good street manners. The engine will idle and cruise just like an LS3, but the power increase is there whenever you need it.
With all of the same great components as the LS3, but with an additional 50 horsepower, the new LS 376/480 is ready, willing, and able to answer your call for a new LS crate engine.

I would have bought ls376/480 instead of standard LS3 if i would have thought that hotcam is what i want. Lunati and Livernois both gave 30hp more in upper resrve than hotcam, just thinking that is there better solutions if you wont have to worry about street manners or emissions.

IMO out of all the cams in the test the Katech cam performed the best. It had some very good street manners by reading the MAP values GMHTP gave and its 5*overlap. It also made the most tq. at all rpms by looking at the graphs until 6000 rpm where the Livernois cam and Lunati cam beat it by only 9-10 ft. lbs. Why give up all that under the curve power? Just to say I have 10 more hp?? Get the Katech cam its specs are...224/236 .581/.601 113lsa. The other two cams that did very well all around in that test were the Comp cams 223/231 .610/.617 112lsa and the Futral 225/236 .621/.599 114lsa. Surprisingly enough in that test though the Lingefelter cam on average did pretty well also.

Out of those three cams I am seeing a pattern in performance and cam specs. Those 3 have very similar splits and duration numbers. The lifts are close too but all are ground on different LSA's. Those three cams had the same MAP reading as the Hot Cam, meaning these cams are very driveable and liveable. The futral cam has the most overlap at 7.2 and the Katech having the least at 5.3 and the comp at a very close 5.5 degrees overlap.

I live in Finland, Futral, Livernois etc. are pretty hard to buy from here, i´d have to order those myself from U.S.

Lunati and Compcams are makes that my part suplier can sell in good prices and fast delivery time.

I dont give a crap how it behaves or idles under 2500rpm, if idle gets little "rock´n roll" -> better.

Basic question of this thread was that are there any better cams ro use wits standard engine if you dont need to worry about emissions or how it idles?

That LG Spring etc set seem rather "costly", any cheaper options to go with that?
