I'm thinking of building a carbureted LS2 with L92's, big cam, victor jr etc that will be run on motor. What is the safe RPM limit of the bottom end, and what are the weak links? How good is the crank if I changed out the pistons/rods/bearings? Thanks

I've taken mine to 6800.....others go higher.

I hear rod bolts are the weak link- don't know for sure.

Shifted at 7000 for about 40,000 miles with no problems...rod bolts are the weak link in the rotating assembly..the crank is good for 650-700 HP

I have read/heard the crank is good for a bit better than that. I have stock LS2 rods,pistons,crank and have to very close to 600 flywheel.

How high do you spin it and do you have stock rod bolts?

can u just swap the stock rod bolts out for arp ones with the pan off?

hmmm...I've heard the rod bolts are fine....Any other opinions??

Who ever told you that the rod bolts are good has no clue about the LS series of engines ... do not listen to any more advise from that person .... it is a well know fact that the rod bolts are the weak link in the rotating assembly .... this is not speculation it is fact and has been for a long time.

I spin mine to 7100 stock everything including bolts. I wouldn't suggest doing that for to long. I'm making in the neighborhood of 750whp. But i'm also not affraid to hurt if.
