Default PAC 1518 springs on LS3 heads with XE-r lobes?

I am thinking about using the PAC 1518 beehive springs on a set of LS3 heads with a 234/238 XE-R lobed cam. Has anyone had problems with this setup? Figure it will be ok due to the light weight intake valves but would like to hear real world experiences.

Thanks

It was recommended by several cam guys not to run the 1518's on my 92 heads even with lite weight valves (REV). The XRE cams are ground aggresive, a dual spring would be better. I found this out after buying the 1518's. The LS3 valves still have a lot of mass to control at higher rpms. What kind of lift #s does your cam have? I know Mast Motor sports run bee hives on there cams. You could do it. I would call your cam manuf. for more info.

I don't think there would be any problems with the 1518's on this one, so long as you check the installed heights and shim the springs up to about .050"-.060" from coil-bind! Even though the intake valve is "light weight", it's still fairly large and relatively heavy, so you'll want to do it right!

Not familiar with that cam. What are the specs? Feel free to PM me if you'd prefer so we don't clutter the OP's thread

Since you preferred to have valvetrain control, you did them up properly.

I've tested the pac single on our LS3 engine dyno motor with 620" lift up to 7100rpm using lobes similar to a LSL.

That being said the new PRC valve spring kit is very affordable & uses a spring that's several steps above the platinum/xtreme springs.

For well under $300 you get a complete spring kit with springs, seats seals, and retainers built in the US so you know the install heights will be spot on.....
