Default LS7 cam in LS3...

Anyone done this? Any EDUCATED guesses as to what it would make?

Keep in mind that the rocker ratio on the LS7 is 1.8 compared to 1.7 on the LS3. So the LS7 lift of 0.593 would be reduced to 0.560 when installed in the LS3. Still higher than 0.551 with the stock LS3 cam though.

Thanks, Hans. I'm with and ahead of you on that. This also requires a longer pushrod due to the smaller base circle of the ls7 cam. My thinking is this will give a small boost in torque, moderate bump in hp, slight lope, with no downside at all. I suppose we'll see when this gets done.

I've that cam installed in my L76, as I needed a 3 bolt cam with a stock idle and it was free. Didn't know about the difference in the base circle, that could eapleain the valvetrain noise I have.

Nossir, it DOES explain your valvetrain noise.
How's it run otherwise? Any time slips or dyno sheets?

GM uses a very similar, maybe almost the same cam in the LSA &/or the LS9, so it certainly fits those platforms well.

Do you know what the base circle difference is?

I was actually thinking of picking up a cheap LS7 cam for my 6.2 engine build.

Then I saw that people were demanding a premium for them simply due to the fact that it was a "corvette 7.0 LS7 cam." It really made more sense to just spend $150 extra and get an aftermarket cam.

If you really need to run custom pushrods, then it really might not be worth it.

What kind of engine did you want to run it in?

Hans: How did you get the umlaut over the "u"? I love it.

OP:Sorry for the hijack.

No results yet, have to deal with other issues like tuning, fabing up a lid convrsion and now this pushrod length

For a blower car I think the LS7 is a great cam for a sleeper but for an NA car you need a little more duration, I would look at the new TR cam Cheatr V.3 219/229 .607 .604 117LSA. Will still run like stock and tons of tq with the higher lift. LS3 heads love lift.
