Default 370 ci, Pat G cam. AI LS3 heads, FAST 102/102 sound good?

I'm in the middle of a build I've yet to see the exact same combo. I'm building an Iron 370 with these particulars in the air. Let me get some opinions from you guys. Car's a daily driver and I don't mind crude (to most people) street manners. I'm currently having a Cam spec'd by Patrick G for big N/A numbers and n2o numbers (250+ shot). I'm wanting the cam to chop as hard or harder than my prior ASA cam (which was on a 110 LSA). Also lift should be no more than .650" to stay within below spring tolerances. Already paypal'd him funds for his recommendation (haven't recieved it yet), but being that the heads are in the air, that could change what he needs for a more absolute decision.

1. Ported FAST LSXR 102/102 loaded w/60 lb/hr injectors (don't wanna run out of injector )

2. Advanced Induction LS3 heads with Manley Nextek Dual .650 springs and Ferrea Hollow valves. I'm guessing compression will be the average 11.2:1 - 11.3:1. I'm not scared to go higher though.

I decided the above head decision on "bang for buck" factor as most know. Feel free to give guidance on everything except the 370 ci. That's set in stone.

The FAST is a waste of money, just get a ported LS3.

Well Pat got back to me with cam specs no where near the duration of JPH's 239/251. It's way less. So I guess my question would be shared with 94 guy's. Why 239/251?

69LT1Bird: Hardly a waste of money. Here's a comparo of a PORTED LS7 vs un ported FAST 102. Here

LS7, yes they are worth it, find the same gains on a L92/LS3 head 370 inch engine, good luck with that. About 10 horsepower on a good day.

Well part of the reason I recommended that profile, is from past experience with that cam design on the same exact combo you have, but with a carb. (it was on a 110 and the guy worked at Precision Turbo) I wouldn't doubt Pat told you to do something smaller and tighter I bet. With your ported heads and the overlap you want, that's what he would give you. I tend and always recommend and spec what has worked for me and my engines, and not just computer race and dyno race. I do not charge for advise nor ever will. I give honest and direct answers that work for me and what I do, and if you don't believe me just ask around. Try calling a "real" camshaft company and talk to a "real" lobe designer, you might be surprised. Good luck with your build.

Joe: Thank you for the clarification. For something as critical as a cam, I'm sure you'd understand why anyone would question an answer as simple as your first response. Yeah Pat G's specs were smaller and tighter. But he has kinda proven himself on this board with solid numbers both on the dyno and the track. I mean, 500+rwhp heads/cam (hydraulic roller) 346s are few and far between. He did that. Now, I told him I want aggresive power on this build so I'm expecting it to be over 500 rwhp N/A for my 370 as he did the same with a 346. When this build completes around the first week of January, I'll be posting dyno numbers with track times. It'll only do one of two things, disappoint or make me happy and it'll be another check in the box for him proving himself.

VertC6: it's around the 23x/24x .61x/.62x 112+3 if I remember correctly and I don't remember any of the other specs. I have it at home.

I called comp cams and gave them my specs of my 416
- LPE cnc'd ls3 heads milled to 11.8-11.9 comp
And they recommended a 247/259 on a 113 with .624 lift on both sides.
Now I'm stuck between using an ls3 intake or a 102?!

Keep us posted on the results pleasee!

I really doubt that. A rect port 102 fast is 895 and a ported LS3 goes for~500 bucks.

Quick Reply: 370 ci, Pat G cam. AI LS3 heads, FAST 102/102 sound good?
