More power out of a 09 Sliverado
I just bought a 09 Silverado(5.3 flex fuel with DOD), and I want more power out of it without opening the engine up (i.e Heads/Cam)
I have already done the AirAid cold air kit, and the Magnaflow exhaust. I was thinking about getting a underdrive pulley and some 1.85 rockers then later down the road a set of shorty headers and an electric cut-out. The only thing I'm worried about is the DOD system. You guys think the 1.85 rockers will hurt the DOD system? Would a cam be a better option to optimize the setup and will a cam hurt the DOD system? I have HP Tuners and I also have the Tunning School home courses. I have done the A6 tunning and im very satisfied with the results. Any other ideas on making more power?
-MODS please move if Im in the wrong section-

I would not waste your money on 1.85 rockers. As Vettenuts said, you'll need springs also.
The obvious answer would be headers & high flow cats. That's going to make more power, make the engine work less, move more air, and with the right tune potential gain you some mpg. An underdrive pulley wouldn't hurt either.
You can also tune the D.O.D. to engage sooner as well. Lots of info on the HP tuners forum about it.

It feels strong and im satisfied with the sound and fuel economy. On a recent 900+ mile roadtrip it got 18.9MPG going 70-75; using the fill tank, reset trip odo, and on next fill, divide the milage by gallons it took to fill up. Each time it was really close 18.7-19. Pretty good for a big four door pick up!

What's your budget/HP goals?
EDIT: I see you mentioned the Magnacharger...that was going to be my suggestion if you said you had a good-sized budget. great low-end to help move a heavy truck, fairly easy install, no other mods needed (LT headers, etc...but they wouldn't hurt if you could swing the $$) and you can put the truck back to stock in an afternoon if you decide to get rid of it and sell the blower.
Also, don't mess with shorties on the truck...not enough gain for the time/$$...LTs or nothing, IMO.

No, not enough to justify the cost/install. The LTs w/ cats bolted to your Magnaflow wouldn't be too bad..if it was too loud, you could go with a longer case MF.
Check out www.performancetrucks.net lots of great info. The LS1tech for GM trucks.

before i did the 6.2 swap. i also had a 5.3 i did the usual bolt on's , and a futral 224-228 .580-.580 on a 112+4
headers
intake
pulley
comp 918's( that eventually broke and led to the 6.2 swap)
futral F5 cam
and a dyno tune , i eventually went back and got a "fine tune"
yank ss3600
stock 3.73's
my truck ended up making 365rwhp and 335rwtq
these high output 5.3 motors are no joke!
as far as MPG went.. well around town i knew it would be kinda bad with a converter (13.5-14) .. but as soon as i hit the interstate or the freeway.. it would go up to almost 19-20 depending on how fast i was going.

Pacesetter has just started to ship longtubes for the 09 Silverado this week. They're $600 shipped from TSP including Ypipe(no cats). You just delete the rear 02s. Also a 25% underdrive pulley. Meziere electric water pump(on the expensive side). You could also install a set of 1.8 Scorpions. They don't require hardened pushrods as do the 1.85 Comp Pro Mags and the increased lift might not be enough to require a spring change.
