I mounted my guage and did a TB bypass at the same time. I got a small brass "T" fitting at Home Depot along with 2 barbed hose ends that fit the rubber hose going to the TB from the heads. On the other end opening on the T I mounted the sending unit for the gauge. I had to drill a small hole in the back and use a self-tapping screw with some pipe thread sealant and ran a ground wire to whatever was closest to ground the sending unit. Worked perfect, and it was all hidden under the bellows between the lid and TB. Trying to find my pic but not having any luck at the moment.

Yea, I didn't want to bother with the trouble of putting it in the head. This way it's getting about as good of a reading as it can by measuring the temp as it leaves the engine and goes into the radiator. I was proud of myself for thinking up something that acutally worked for a change

If the sender has a 1/8" NPT thread, you're in luck. There is an adapter (M12-1.5 male to 1/8" NPT female) that screws into the metric plug hole at the rear of the passenger side head. The M12-1.5 thread size is common on the GM temperature sensors.
This same fitting also fits in the oil pan cover (the threaded one used on trucks and Corvettes) so you can use it for an oil temp or pressure gauge if you so desire.
I haven't seen it available from any of the vendors here but it's available from Speedway Motors (part# 182-2277).
They also have an adapter fitting that fits several of the oil passage plugs (M16-1.5 male to 1/8" NPT female) and the sender hole on the valley cover. It's part number is 182-2268.
