There are a number of companys using an actual break in oil. I know joe gibbs, and i believe royal purple has them. From what ive heard and read you should at least use conventional oil for a few hundred miles then you can change over, it gives a motor time to wear in. I could be wrong but maybe someone else can chime in.

I ran Valvoline Racing NFS to break in my engine. The NFS is "Not For Street" because it contains ZDDP which is an anti-scuff compound. The EPA made them take it out of street oil a while ago.

We ran straight Penzoil 30w for break in. But now they have much better break in oils on the market. Brad Penn, Comp Cams, Joe Gibbs, Royal Purple and so on. I'd go with some of those oils that are meant for breaking in an engine.
Get some time on the engine and before you switch, get a leak down tester and check each cylinder. If you are more than 5% I'd say keep running it a little bit longer, to let everything seat in a little better.
The leaddown gage never lies!

I also used Valvoline NSL for break in. I had to get it at NAPA.

exactly.

The bearing clearances dictate what weight oil to be used.Stick with whatever Erik reccommends.
