Default Higher CR with LS6 heads, good?

Here's the low down on what I've got done to my car, its a 2000 Camaro, 6spd with a Torquer V2 cam and full exhaust. Every thing else is stock LS1 and nothing has been ported or anything. (I'll be getting a LS6 intake manifold soon)

I want to get some LS6 heads, the web site I'm ordering them from says they are 59cc 243 LS6 heads and will bump my compression ratio up to 11-1. Will it be worth it to bump up my compression? Can I still run on 91 octane? Can I just put these heads on, get a tune and call it a day, or will I have to do something special to any part in my engine? Will my car still be some what good of a DD?

I just want to make sure this is a wise choice. My car is a street car that sees the strip some what often.

swapping stock LS1 heads for 59cc heads should take you from 10.1:1 to ~11.1:1 by my calculator. I would think that's fine on 91 octane. Ask your tuner.

That will be perfect for that Cam. Only problem is you'll probly have to fly cut the pistons.

Give us a call @ Texas Speed & We'll help you select a combo that meets your power goals & fuel requirements. You have to be real careful about some of the cylinder head vendors that don't do any testing & just sell out of the box heads milled to 59cc without discussing your build & having hard data to share experience with you.

The PRC cylinder heads can be milled to specs we determine will best meet your goals & power requirements.

Give us a call so we can discuss Precsion Race Components cnc ported head options with you!
