Default Deck plate

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but can someone tell/show me where to buy a deck plate for LS motors? A friend of mine with a machine shop is trying to locate one. thanks

I just last week took a SBC plate and drilled the 10 holes in it to match the LS engines. Now I have one plate that does both engines.

Also, Goodsen sells the plates for LS but they are pricey. http://www.goodson.com/store/templat...d4cf0cf5592d16

That's why I use a BHJ plate these days, that was back in 1998 My point is the Ford plates aren't exact. It worked fine for awhile, these plates ain't cheap. Today I got a 4.00", 4.100", 4.200" - that's about 1700.00 bucks.

Does anyone know the bolt size is for the ls2? If they are 1/2 inch then I believe that is the same asa SBF 351.

LS engines (excluding LS9) are 11mm (.433")

An LS1 is 4.400 bore spacing where as the SBF is 4.380 bore spacing so by the end of the torque plate it doesn't fit anymore.

Hmmm, this either blows the current myth out of the water, or the SBF plates have enough "bore size" to allow them to be used on the LS motors (albeit with some offset). Maybe work on a 3.9" bore but not the larger bores?

Yeah a regular Ford SBF [;ate with 1/2 ind head bolt holes will just fit on a 3.900 bore LS1 with 11mm bolts but it won't fit the larger bore LS1 stuff at a point due to the bore spacing.

May or may not. With my plates we couldn't get the end head bolts in but with bigger holes maybe.

Whats your thoughts on using say a ls7 size plate on a ls1 size bore? Not enought load on the edge of the liner? What about a ls2 or 3 plate on a ls1, etc.

I like using the gaskets I will be using and a TQ plate that completely covers them just ike the head would so as small as you can get on there. We have 4 different LSx TQ plates and about 10 different gaskets.

Why are you using a machinist that does not even have a deck plate for that? If he's a personal friend I can understand it, but sounds weird to me, but that's your decision.
