LS3 drive by cable??
I thought that ALL LS3 motors were drive by wire. I am looking for an LS motor for my 67 project, and I am learning a lot, but this now has me confused.
Everything I have read said that LS2 and LS3's are drive by wire, so why is this ebay add showing a picture with a clear cable-operated engine, claing to be an LS3??? I can't make out the coil covers.
Not that ebay is a beaken of honesty, but WTF?
Help clear the confusion!!!???!?!?!?!?!?!!!??

Looks like it was converted to a traditional cable throttle body in the process of being upgraded. Converting to a cable TB is a popular choice when retrofitting an engine such as the LS3 into an older application, such as an F-body.
For your project, either system will work. If you want to use the Electronic throttle, you'll need the electronic TB, applicable throttle pedal assembly, and appropriate harnesses and ECU. If you choose to use a traditional cable operated TB, you won't need any of those components.

For ten grand they could do just about anything! Holy crap.
LS3s have 58 tooth crank wheels and all the computers that are compatible with those wheels are drive by wire only. The ebay auction shows one of the older computers so I'd guess that the crank wheel was changed to the older 24x. I've done this myself.

Converting LS3's to cable throttle with 24X crank and LS1 PCM is pretty common as the above posters have pointed out.
Is odd that it has a GTO/FBody water pump.
A factory crate LS3 with accessory drive and GMPP harness/ECM kit is probably around 8-9k from Scoggin Dickey.

I knew there were ways to convert them back to drive by cable, but it isn't mentioned in the add, which was very brief, so I didn't even think about it.
I would be crazy to spend that much on a "built" LS anything when I could do it myself and get a transmission to connect to it for less.
Thanks for the input!
