Can be done with just removing:

Coil Packs
Valve Cover
Spark Plugs
Pushrods
Rocker Arms

Tools Needed
Air Compressor with fitting for spark plug hole - To hold valves closed
Speed Inc's Valve Spring Compressor tool

If you do not have a air compressor you still can do it with no problem...

Just curious how do you keep the valves from dropping down without having air pressure in the cylinder?

Start off with number one at TDC on the conpression stroke you can now change both springs on number 1 and number 6 ...now rotate the crank another 90 degrees and you can change the springs on number 8 and 5...now rotate another 90 degrees and you can change the springs on number 7 and 4...now rotate another 90 degrees and you can do the springs on number 3 and number 2 ... with the pistons at top dead center on the compression stroke the valve can only drop to the top of the piston..if it does that just pull it back up ..it is not really very hard to do....it is a little easier with a air compressor but not everyone has one in their garage...its no big deal at all.

Old timers trick is rotate to TDC, then feed some cotton rope into the cylinder through the spark plug hole until it won't feed in anymore. The valve should barely move with the rope in place.

You dont need rope. I just let the valves sit on the pistons......

Yeah I know it is an old timer move cause I am an ol timer...but doing it that way is a major pain in the azz..not to mention makes it very time consuming that is why nobody does it anymore...you can just let the valves sit on top of the pistons and pull them up when you put the spring on....
