Default WCCH LSX-LS7 heads - lotsa pics

A few weeks ago I ordered a set of the new GMPP LSX-LS7 heads from Richard at West Coast Cylinder Heads. Upgrades included Stage II porting, REV one-piece stainless exhaust valves, and a PRC EHT .675 spring set. Since these are fairly new parts, I thought folks might be interested in some pics.

They come nicely packed:

Here is a (poor) pic of a set of the new LSX 6-bolt head gaskets:

And this is what they're going on.

In closing I just want to mention what a pleasure it was working with Richard. His responses to email or phone calls were always fast, complete, and cheerful. And I thought his prices were very reasonable. Two thumbs up.

Would it be worth the effort to polish out the cutter marks?

We've not seen any appreciable gains from buffing the witness marks as we use a pretty fine step over.

We use the same program as our factory Stage 2 LS7 program with the addition of a machining operation on the chambers. (For those needing a slightly larger chamber we can grow them 4cc). See here: Stage 2 LS7 Flow

These heads are only available as complete assemblies including the somewhat fragile sodium exhaust valves. The pricing breaks down as follows:
Cylinder heads assemblies $2510.00 (pr.)
Stainless exhaust valves $151.00
Complete labor including surface milling and re assembly $1000.00

The supplied springs are beehive PAC springs and most of the time we install a heavier dual spring assembly($290.00). BTW these heads are machined to accept up to 1.550" diameter springs but be careful because the pad heights are raised approx .050" leaving less installed height.

I'm glad Richard stepped in and answered some of the questions.

One thing I didn't mention is that I asked, per Richard's suggestion, to have the combustion chambers opened up to 73cc to unshroud the exhaust valves a bit. I'm using custom pistons anyways, so they were ordered to suit.

Are they any good? Well, when I did my research it kept coming up that WCCH was the go-to shop for LS7 porting. Even our local well-repected head porter here in Tampa suggested them! 395 cfm at .650 sounds good to me.

The build is for a '09 Z06 with a ProCharger F1-A.

Man, those are some sweet heads. Looks like a monster build coming up.

Nice flow numbers on those heads. Gannet, what vehicle are you putting that engine into and size engine are you building?

Looks great !

+1, Richard is the man. He's very helpful, can't go wrong with WCCH heads.

Mine are still holding up great 5 years later (hard to believe it's been that long already).

The motor will be a 427, 9.6-9.7 scr, optimistic goal is 950 @ 15-16 psi. Cam will be a custom Comp of my own spec (but inspired by Ragin' Racin'): 232/256 (XER/XE), .630/.630, 114 LSA, 110 ICL. When I asked Richard about the cam he said he thought it would be pretty close to ideal with these heads, for this application.

So 3951.00 is the total.
