Default LSX454 Crate motor

I am debating on what motor to throw in my new build. I am thinking of this set up. Thoughts?

i would do a hke 408 with tfs 235-245's my self but if you want the ls7 heads i understand, you could use a 4" crank on that and it would be a 443 i think a guy somewhat local to be had a 454 and turned it into a 443 im not sure exactly why maybe something about it burning less oil, his name is 03supercobra if you want to pm him and ask a few questions, goodluck with finding a new motor

Hopefully someone will give me some insight on what size injectors they are. After looking around Jegs sells the same motor for $9299.99

I just bought this motor along with the carb style intake + added an Elbow and 50lb/hr injectors. It is a sweet motor with heads that flow 370+CFM as cast - not the LS7 Heads, but new LSX Heads.

1. Is a 90MM TB OK, or should I get one of the new bigger ones: 92MM, 102MM etc?
2. I have a Bigstuff3 in my car that was used with my FI BBC 454. It is 3 years old. Should I continue to use it. I'll probably need to send it in for updating + order a new harness for the COP ignition the LSX uses.
3. Will I be able to use my Accell 300+ (just like a MSD 6AL) or do I just run off the Bigstuff3 alone?

Thanks

Where did you get this flow data?

How much did you pick it up for? If your running the bs3 efi set up that will control everything. No need for the accel stuff. If I didn't have to use the GM controller kit for marketing reasons I would throw a Bs3 on there myself.

Hey Jimbo-here is the link describing the flow of the new six bolt LSX head (based on the LS7 head, but not the same).

http://www.popularhotrodding.com/tec...fications.html

97 LS3: I bought it from JEGS for $9299. I purchased the carb style intake, oil pan, 8-bolt flexplate, and water pump from Crate engine depot (pretty good prices but I forgot about GMparts direct - could have saved about $60 or more).

I bought the intake elbow and injectors from Jegs also along with some bolt-in/weld-in motor mounts for my install.

Anyone have comments on the TB size? Is a 90 MM still OK, or should I go with something bigger? I may have to return my elbow (edelbrock) and get one that works with the bigger ones.

90mm is enough... my race car runs a 90mm and goes mid 8's like that.

Cool, I was hoping the 90mm was enough for the LSX454 since I have one.

Thanks

If you want a few more hp, go with the FAST 102/102

Mine gained 23 hp and 19tq from a ported ls7 intake with a 90TB

It's a pretty good chunk a change for these ponies !

Jimbo,

there is a few more articles out there on those new heads. The CNC version flows over 400 CFM. Pretty crazy stuff -thats darn good for a big block head. LS engine architecture is pretty amazing.

Do some searches for 454LSX GMPP and you'll find more
