6.0 (LS2 or LQ4/9) can go to 402 inches, and 408 inches. 402 is stock 4.0" bore, with a stroker crank taking stroke to 4.0". 408 is a +.030 overbore, with the same crank. Very reliable from what I've seen. Stroke is a little long compared to the length of the bore, as the stroke makes you use a shorter piston, putting more of the piston closer to the bottom of the bore at bottom dead center. So be careful with power adders.

600 fwhp is doable N/A with a 402/8. There are several routes you can take, L92 heads will do if ported with a nice intake/tb and LT's. Gonna take a stout cam to do it, I'd contact Pat G on here for a custom grind. Or you could go with an aftermarket head from one of the sponsors to the right, Texas Speed, Va Speed, etc. Trick Flow, AFR, Mast Motorsports, all make great heads that flow a ton. I can't speak for streetability due to lack of experience, but I'm sure someone will follow up with that info. I would imagine that a large enough cam to make that kind of power could be slightly peaky and lose some low end torque, but I'm not positive on that. I have seen the newer EPS grinds make outstanding peak power and still maintain torque. Anybody else got anything to add?

Hope this helps ya.

yeah that sounds about right.

4.1 bore and 4.125 stroke i believe. Only bad thing is like mentioned earlier. The bores of the block are rather short and hard on the skirts since they come so far out of the block.

If his goal is 600 crank hp, then he could probably stick with stock cubes. The right cam, ported L92's, and a FAST 102 or ported LS3/L67 intake should do it. Carcraft made 550hp with stock L92's and a cam that was pretty mild. (I think it was a 228/230 cam with high 500's lift.)

Mine is 427". Iron block filled to the waterpump ports with Hardblok and bored to 4.07". 4.100" crank. Streetability is all in the tune. Mine will loaf along in 6th gear at 1700rpm all day with minor surging below 2% throttle. Just give it a bit more pedal and it smoothes right out.

The LSX block has thicker cylinder walls, and you can also get it in different deck heights.
Going .60 over on a 6.0 block, I would definitely get is sonically checked for integrity.

I am not meaning to hijack a thread, but I dont want to make a new thread for this(It is on topic of this thread). I am not intending on running a massive amount of boost or Nitrous. At most, a 100 shot with no boost. For my goals, would it make sense to go to an iron 408 or just stroke my LS2 block. FWIW, I do plan on a nice H/C setup in the short future. Possibly even H/C/I, if that matters.

If all you're going to run is a 100 shot, either route will work for you. Whichever you can do for cheaper. Just remember, the aluminum block will save you 90 lbs. over the iron block.

4.070" bore we typically see .200" cylinder wall thickness, which is considered a safe minimum. For heavy power adder you're better off with 4.030" bore size, .200" wall is fine for N/A, small nitrous.

We generally build 4.030" bore iron blocks at most for customers. I've had a 4.060 without any issues in my personal builds. You could go a 4.100 stroke & 4.030 bore & have a nice street motor!
