Default Got a ticking ls2

Hello, I got an ls2 in my 2000 camaro now and its got a ticking noise. sometimes it gets pretty loud and I'm thinking lifter from all that I've seen. sometimes it does it at start up then goes away and then sometimes it does it after about a few minutes when the motor gets warm. Usually if you rev it up higher for a few seconds it'll go away. its just a tack tack kinda ticking noise you can hear from the top and bottom. thanks for any help or advise

Default Piston slap.

9 out of 10 times it's the piston rocking in the bore at top dead center.Very common in all the L.S motors.I have 3 of them in my garage.I have a L-92,an LS-1.and an LQ-4.All 3 were warranty at my local dealer. All 3 were slappers like you hear.My 2 cents .

As the motor warms up the piston expands quieting the noise.I work at a dealership and putting new pistons in or a short block are common G.M fixes.Alot of motors make the noise, most people just don't notice it.

Yea that's the same issue I had in my LS1. That little tapping noise then it goes away. Now I just got this LS3 427, hopefully I shouldnt have to worry about that.

Default Piston slap

Ls pistons have a very short skirt making them easy to rock in there bores.I have put a piston at t.d.c and rocked a piston duplicating the noise we all hate to hear.
