Default Wet sleeve question

Will any of the wet sleeve systems work with fresh water cooling?

Default

There are a lot of old iron SBC and BBC engines running around with replacement sleeves using standard coolants. Will be interested in seeing why this would not be an option for LS engines.

Default Fresh water cooling

Normally you would need some sort of anti rust additive in the coolant to keep the exterior of the sleeves from rusting. Darton has phosphate coated sleeves that may work for a while. The reason I say for a while is the sleeve flats and coolant holes through the flange are machined after the sleeves are coated so those areas are bare metal and will rust. I wouldn't recommend trying this in a boat with salt water cooling for that reason.
