Default 2007 ls2 questions/cam help

i have a 32k mile ls2 from a tb ss going into my 67 camaro. does this motor have the variable cam timing setup in it?

i have called 4 different manufacturers for a cam suggestion and half of them arent asking much about my setup...that worries me.

car is 3150 with driver,richmond 5 speed,3.73 gears,ported vic jr carb'd intake, 1 7/8 headers.

i am not looking to flycut the pistons or pull the heads off.

thanks in advance for any help

No it does not.

Call Comp they'll set you up with your goals, without having to fly cut.

hm...just called comp. they reccomended their 54-460-11 cam. 235 in 243 ex 621 624 lift on a 113 lsa.

everyone else in that ballpark said i would have to flycut pistons...comp says no.

confusion is setting in. :banghead:

That is a little big. I had the megadeath in my GTO and was always told that this is the largest cam without fly cutting the LS2 can take.

Specs on the Megadeath are: 244/242 612/610 112 lsa

thats about what everyone else is telling me...

lg told me i'd have to flycut for a g5x4 (which sucks, because i can get a deal on one) and everyone else seems to say very low 600's is the end of the line without cutting pistons...

i really dont want to take the heads off the motor. at all.

i want something that makes alot of power everywhere...it shouldnt be hard to get this thing into the 10's at 3150 lbs with a stick and this motor in it.

Did you mention fly cutting was a no go for application ?

If not I'd run it! I had a vrx5 cam on tfs heads milled to 59cc chambers for an 11.0 to 1 compression. So if you are still stock comp then go for it! I wish I had gone with a vindicator also from vengeance after 4 weeks with the vrx5 lol.

Oh carb app! Sorry missed that part, yea carb intakes for the most part prefer a tighter Lsa (lobe separation angle)

My roommate ran a 240/245 .603/.607 113 LSA in his LS2 without having to flycut. That was with 63cc heads FWIW

I have the 54-459-11 cam which is 231/239 and .617/.624 and have plenty piston to valve clearance according to Mike over at AES. You should be fine.

Might take a little more than a cammed LS2 to push a Gen I to 10's, even at 3150 lbs. Would be easier with a stalled auto.

stalled auto is going to sap a bunch more power...why do you think it would be easier?

this is a fully done richmond 4+1 by brian at sk speed. not some poorly geared t56.

IF you do want to have to worry about flycutting pistons then step down to the 54-459-11 or even the 54-458-11. There will not be much difference in power, and both will make peak power around 6300-6600rpm. Plus the smaller cams will be more responsive for street cruising.
