How much boost are you going to run? I would recommend looking at building a 408 stroker motor using the LQ Iron blocks. These motors are a great bang for your buck option, they have been proven to hold up to big power when built correctly for quite some time. If you would like a quote on a motor either give us a call or send me a PM and I can get something going for you.

I have had SBC and BBC in my Gen I and LS in Gen IV. The LS is a better package than the SBC - stronger, lighter and makes more power. Downside is parts just cost a lot more than the SBC and don't show any trend downward.
If you go LS in the 63, you really should consider using fuel injection. The injection system and brain on the LS really sets it apart and can be set up to accomodate the Procharger of your choice. For a a blow through, you may as well go with the SBC as you will need far fewer custom parts for the install.
How much power do you want to build? Big difference in costs between 600 and 1000 rwhp.

im looking to make 800 to 1200 hp at the crank. my problem im facing is the heat since the exht, valvels are so close to each other on a normal sbc. im not into changing head gaskets this car is way to nice to be doing that kind of stuff all the time. just trying to way out my options in all this and see if i can save some money too

I'm not sure if it was LME or another sponsor who advised running a 390. The compression height of a set of those pistons can take MUCH more abuse without damaging ring lands or breaking pistons. There's a thread around about a 390 vs 408 build and how the 390 with identical parts and boost ended up making substantially more power.
And as far as headgaskets are concerned, you can have your builder ring the block for you. It all depends on boost. Obscene amounts, you may need to look into a 6 bolt/cyl LSX block.
