Default Oil pumps

Why would you go with a dry-sump oil system as opposed to a wet-sump system? What are the indication for going with the dry-sump. Thank you.

Seems like I see dry sumps most often with long stroke cranks and high-G turn applications. Also if consumption is enough of a problem that requires extra capacity. I've never actually used one.
