LS7 timing chain damper slack question, please advise
I'm putting my LS3 motor back together and installed a LS7 timing chain dampener. I noticed there seems to be a good deal of slack when using this dampener, is this normal? And for those with the keen eye, yes, that is the Katech C5R timing chain. The stock chain has the same slack just to answer that question before it comes up. I previously had the stock style dampener on the motor which is spring loaded in a sense so that took up any of the slack.
My biggest concern would be how this slack would effect the cam timing. I will be degreeing the cam here shortly and would like to make sure this is normal before proceeding any further.
Hopefully the pic I uploaded will display and you will be able to see what I am looking at.
Thanks for any input or help that you can provide. Have a great day!

Does anybody have any thoughts or input on this? Is this normal to see with the LS series of engines? I know on the old SBC the timing chain was fairly tight.
