Question 6.2 stock piston size?

hey guys, I've been having some trouble with stock piston size from any 6.2L (L92, L99 or LS3) found it was 4.065, some say 4.060 or 4.062, all of them have the same size bore? thanks

The 6.2 liters are 4.065 bore. The 6.0 liters are 4.00 bore. They share the same crank dimensionally speaking, and the bore sizes are all the same for each family, meaning ALL 6.0 liter engines are 4.00, and ALL 6.2 liter engines are 4.065. Iron or aluminum.

Keep in mind the 4.065" bore is the finish bore of the cylinder, not the piston!

god! that's the point. I was meaning the piston stock size not the finish bore of the cylinder. so piston size would be something like 4.062?

That would be pretty tight imo depending on what application you're using the engine for and what material the pistons are made from.

My bad, I misinterpreted what you were asking. As a general rule of thumb which will vary from builder to builder slightly, the piston is .005 smaller than the bore. So in thie case of a 4.065 bore, the piston will usually be a 4.060
Really depends on the piston material, and other factors also, like block material, forced induction, nitrous, etc, etc. Hope this helps.

Your machine shop would measure before doing any machining, but they will be about 4.061" or so measured 90º from the pin.
