Default Starting my LS3 build

Hi all, I have been reading a lot of post on here, this is a great site. Anyway I am starting my ls3 build for my C5. I Have ordered the TSP 416 Stroker kit with Wiscoe 4.070 5cc domed pistons, Callies 6.125 H beams, 4.00 Crank, I have had Pat G spec a cam for me, Its a 239/251 .621/.632" 114LSA +2 Cam for the LS3 heads, LS3 intake and TB, once I have all the parts in hand I will start posting pics, and go into more detail. The car is a 2002 C5 coupe, A4 with a 3800 Circle D converter, TSP headers, CAI. It ran 11.9 @ 115 on 1.8 shorts, Best with a 125 shot was 11.0 @ 129 on 1.8 Shorts. But it blew the # 1 piston back in feb. Hoping for that elusive 10.9 on new combo..

Should run well. I'm thinking 10's on motor. If you get the 60' times down in the 1.5's

The LS3 intake will hold you back some. I just bought a Mamo ported 102. I hope it will improve my times by a couple tenths and extend the power band out. Your car is going to make some baddazz midrange , but will peak early with the stock intake. Good luck with the build.

Every once in a while. I ran the Clash there a couple years ago.. Mostly run at HMP and RPR.. I've run a 6.4 at 107 in the 1/8th on spray. Best 1/4 time is 10.0at 135. My trans and gears are killing me past the 1000' mark.

I've looked at what is required to swap the existing LS1 in my 04 GTO with a LS3 stroker. I'm assuming you already know what parts are need, right? You have to use the correct reluctor, which is 24X on the GTO, but the Vette might be the 58X. Hopefully you already have that covered.

TPS offer an optional conversion package with their short blocks that will include the LS2 timing cover with camshaft position sensor, LS2 valley cover, LS2 lifter trays, LS2-specific 1x timing set, and plug-n-play harness extensions for the camshaft position sensor and knock sensor which should cover most of the swap issues.

Knock sensors need to be addressed. The best option seem to be using the LS1 knock sensors relocated to the side of the engine which requires drilling and tapping to fit (Use a hand drill and 8.5mm drill bit to open up the blind M8 female threaded bosses on each side of the block).

You'll probably want to use your existing oil pan, oil pump, oil pickup tube, dipstick, dipstick tube, balancer/pulley, water pump, and front engine accessories. Does the Vette dipstick goes into a hole in the oil pan or does it go into the block hole. If it goes into the oil pan, then the dipstick hole in the LS3 block has to be plugged.
