Default VVT Cam Billet? Can be reground?

Stupid question here...

I pulled the cam from the short block in my 2011 LC9 short block today. To me, it looks like the cam is a billet core? Am I correct?

Also, can this cam be reground to regular non VVT spec?

Just curious and thinking outloud. Thanks

No, you can not do that. VVT Cams and non VVT cams are ground on different cores because of the way the VVT works. Also, regrinding does not happen much on LS motors from my experience. People will usually just buy a new cam.
