Default 408 Stroker... help me pick a cam please?

I'm building a 408 Stroker (and using my leftover PRC Stage 2.5 LS6 heads).

I'm also in the process of buying either a FAST 102 or FAST 90/92 for the top of it.

I am also in the process of buying some DEKA 60# Injectors.

That being said, I currently have a texas speed MS3 cam, and think I could sell it for between 200-250, but what should I replace it with?

I'd like the aggressive lopey idle that the MS3 jammed into my LS6, but I've been told the extra cubes are going to tone the cam down a little bit. What do you guys think?

Trying to make a similar decision myself right now. There are alot of things you have to consider. I wanted valvetrain friendly lobes, something with "some" choppiness, easy to tune, make good average power. I plan on road coursing the car, autoxing and street driving (NOT DRAG).

I think you need to ask yourself similar questions in what you are wanting in a cam. Then speak with a reputable shop like Futral who do ALOT of custom cams, and get real world feedback on the power they make & ET/MPH they run.

Consider lobe aggressiveness unless you want to change valvesprings every 15-20k. consider LSA when you are determining power band and consider overlap on ability to tune it well. With the bigger motor your gonna want to be in the high 23x's or 240's on duration, if you want a streetable cam.

The $25 to pat is worth it! I see so many posts for people asking for cam help. Pat is well respected and a lot of the venders are too. This is what Pat speced for my 408 with cathedral head and 10.9:1 compression 234/238 .602/.615" 114LSA +2

It really comes down to what you want out of the motor. In my opinion the MS3 is a little small of a cam for an all motor set up in a 408. The cubic and inch and stroke really allow you to go with a bigger cam and not suffer a bunch of low end power loss. Feel free to give us call, we would be more then happy to go through a couple different specs that might work towards what you need.

Have room to grow with that 408. Choose a better cam IMO.

Pat specced my cam as well on my 402, so a +1 for him. I drove this car all over the place and it was still pretty reasonable to drive, even with the ac on in traffic. 244/256 .625/.630 on a 114+2. Car was an M6.

Get one specd for you bro. Had Stg 2.5 5.3 heads MS3 and an ls6 intake on my 408 at first made 474/442 on mildish tune got pat g to spec me a cam along with the Stg 3 6.0l heads from tsp and a 102/102 setup. Put down 516/496 on the motor. There's always room to go bigger. If not blow it up and build another one.
