Default ls3 heads twin turbo

OK I am new to this LS world and Im building a tt setup for my 62 Buick. I have started with an Lq4 truck motor. I was getting ready to order springs and have some basic freshen up work done on the heads. My question is would the springs that come with a new set of LS3 heads handle a typical cam for a 700 hp turbo cam? Would the 317 rockers need to be replaced? I'm trying to decide if it would be more practical to just order new heads. I need to make a decision quick cause im ordering that holley hi ram efi intake tuesday. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!

Stock LS3 springs are not rated for much over a stock cam.

You will have to get a good spring setup.

Rockers are typically reusable unless you go with a really wild cam.... thinking you will be somewhat conservative since it is a turbo car. Problem is that LS1/LS2/LQ4 rockers do not fit a LS3 head

Obviously a set of aftermarket heads or a built/CNC ported set of stockers from a vendor here would have everything you need in a turnkey package, fully assembled.

Once you start buying springs, valves, getting a valve job & cutting the deck surface, it becomes apparent that a set already modified is not a bad deal.

If you want a DIY solution, I have multiple sets of new stock LS1/2 valves springs, retainers & locks here from heads I used to modify. I also recently removed a new set of LS3 springs, retainers, locks & seals from a set of heads here.

Feel free to call if you want any of these parts, I'll make you a good deal on them.

You can use your 8 exhaust rockers from the 317 heads, but you'll need to get 8 offset intake rockers for the LS3 heads. Get some dual springs, don't run the stockers. Other than that, you should be good.

You can make a lot of power with twins and stock 317 heads, I just had a guy make almost 900 rwhp with a TTix kit, a conservative cam, and my Platinum spring kit on stock 317's.

Going on 7yrs. A 6.0 I built with stock 317 heads with dual springs. And makes 600+rw on pump gas. 317 are plenty good, just get some good BTR springs. And good pushrods. Ls9 head gaskets if ur gonna pull the heads.

Thanks for the info guys, this is a friendly site. Brian I think I remember you from the days I was racing with Chris Ridge. I had the S10 with the 106mm turbocharged sb2 motor down at the valley. I'll give you a call for springs.
