Boost or higher compression...either way cylinder pressures are what your fighting. A hot plug like the 55 will really limit your timing. I used the tr 6's in my 11.5:1 ls1 and it was fine.

Use a TR6 or a AR103. Gap at .040.

I had the tr6's gapped at .40 BUT I had this annoying misfire! Talked to a few shops from all over abd one Jannety shop knew what I was talking about and said to get rid of them abd use AC Delco 41-104's. I threw them on and I see a MAJOR improvement. Gapped at .40 as well. It's a plug with the same heat range as a tr6 but it's an iridium tip. Just my .2

A comparable Denso plug would also be fine to use which IIRC is also an iridium tipped plug and would work well in a N/A application.

Keep the timing around 28-29 and they should be fine.

31* was the sweet spot for mine when it was getting tuned at Straightline. At first I was like whaaaa but it's what it liked and I ran with it. Maybe that's why I has that miss? I don't know but it's cured with the acdelco 41-104's.

They dyno and real world race track will most of the time show two different things.
I have raced in really good air and 29 it slows in hot nasty air 29 works but 30 slows.

I would be concerned with that much in it if you were running it in really good air.

The OE LS7 plugs would work fine and you wouldn't have to change them every year: ACDELCO Part # 41104

Tim is right on here.

Even though the chambers on the square port stuff seems to want more timing advance than a comparable cathedral port head motor that is a lot of timing on that plug in that motor with that compression.

Play with it at the least and see what the car wants at the track.

That dosnt really make a diff you load it hard in high gear. Your car but I would not run it like that

MPH gain and loss at the track is the best tell tale sign for whether your car likes the amount of timing you are giving it or not.

Interestingly enough my car on motor ran faster at the track with the amount of timing used that made the least amount of hp on the dyno versus the amount of timing that made the most hp, but ran slowest at the track.

I did some research on the TR55 and sent an email to NGK.

As an engineer at NGK explained it, the TR55 is designed to be gapped at .055"-.060. The reason is if you bend the ground strap to achieve .035" - .040", the it ends up looking like a "J" rather than an "L" which results in accelerated erosion because the strap is not parallel to the center electrode.

Buy the TR5 if you want to gap at .035" - .040".

As for the heat range, if your car makes ~100 hp more than stock, you may want to look closer at TR6 or if you want an iridium plug for longer service life, look at the AC Delco 41-104 (or equivalent). Autolite makes an equivalent which I hear is good quality.

82cetuner

have you milled your heads since you bought that motor?

The compression on it was only around 11.4 to 1 at most
