Default Texas Speed AFM lobes

I have a gen IV 5.3 LMG engine (flex fuel, afm, and vvt) in my 2010 silverado. I am currently trying to find a cam that will work with the afm lifters and vvt in my engine.

Texas Speed has afm friendly cams for the bigger 6.2 motors but all are way too big (duration) for my 5.3.

Is there a list of afm friendly lobes somewhere that I could have a cam custom ground off of?

Thanks for reading

I think the afm/DOD lifters are junk and I would not trust them. BUT if you really want to stay that route then just call comp. it's free and they can spec you out a cam as well.

But you can still have vvt and replace the junk lifters for a good set of lifters. Just my .2

Good points. I might have to give comp a call. There is a good chance the lobes texas speed uses are a comp lobe.

I would love to have pat g spec me a cam I'm just worried he would spec me a cam without afm lobes. As far as I know this hasn't been done in a 5.3 before.

I worry about the afm lifter durability as well but I think staying at about .500 lift would do the trick.

Reasoning behind keeping afm is I'm swapping 4.11s in place of the 3.42s in my truck. I should be able to take advantage of the gearing and keep it in 4 cylinder mode longer on the highway which will boost my mileage considerably. Right now my truck will hardly ever kick into 4 cylinder mode.

If I resort to giving up on mileage then it's time for a 6.0 swap.

Keep the ideas flowing guys I appreciate it

I edited the title in hopes of luring a TSP rep in here.

Just call them^ They make good cams too. Cam spec'ing through the forums is like asking us to pick a wife for ya and we'd have about as much luck. Grab one and go and see if it makes you happy if not? Change it. Simple as that

Fair enough. I'm not necessarily looking for a cam spec. More interested in a confirmation that a line of afm friendly lobes exists, and that the tsp cams aren't just special ground with no other development anywhere as far as durations go.

Either way, I believe you are correct. A call might solve all my questions.

^Pretty much. Even stock there has been a fair amount of issues with AFM "Over active lifters" etc. Plus keeping AFM really limits your aftermarket cam options. Id say your probably just as well to stick with the stock AFM cam and do LT's, intake and a tune but for all out gains you really have to ditch AFM which requires pulling the heads and swapping 8 lifters. AFM works but its only a small bump in mileage gains yet its a huge hit in terms of peak performance potential when you start modding and because im a performance first guy? That makes AFM builds highly unattractive to me but again... To each their own.
