Default Z28 stalling, ses, cabin and gauge lights flickering until warm. Constant high idle.

I don't know what the hell is up. It has had a misfire for a minute now. I believe the wires will need to be changed. I changed the icm already. (it was dying after warming up...ironic) Anyways, ill get in the car in the morning, start her up..it will start pretty quick and idle at about 1600 rpms. After about 10 seconds, the rpms will drop and it will die. I'll start it back up and give it gas when it wants to die, but once I stop giving it gas it will drop down and die again. After 2-3 minutes of doing this it will stay running (lights will stop flickering) but stay idling at 1500-1700 rpms (stays at this idle the whole time I drive it)?!? When I drive it from time to time it will choke for a sec when I give it gas. Also the ses light will flicker..Any idea whats going on? I'm thinking MAF and wires. What do yall think?

Typically a flashing SES means misfires. I would definitely check plugs and wires. Have you had the SES code read to see what it is?

Hmm that makes it a bit tougher. Is anything else going wrong? If you have a bunch of random things going wrong with the car I would look at wiring. When there is a wiring issue in these cars a bunch of random stuff goes wrong, random SES codes pop up, and the car just runs bad. I know its a broad subject but with out being able to actually read the codes its hard to know where to go.

Make sure the DLC is getting power. A blown fuese(can't remember which one)can cause no communication with the PCM.

Fuse 5 I believe. I'm gonna swap out the wires today and make sure there is a strong ground connection and connection to the battery in general. It's like it has to idle at 1500 rpms for the car not to die. Once it drifts below it constant high idle it misfires bad.

Alright so I fixed the misfire and at first it idled right at 800 rpms! But then it jumps up after about 2 minutes of idling at normal idle...any idea what it could be?

Have you done an idle relearn since you fixed the missfire?

Tuning and diagnostics forum handles only engine brg failures.
