Default Cam swap help

I just picked an 09 L76 out of a Pontiac G8 with 70k miles on it, screaming deal for 2200 includes all accessories, harness and ecm. I am going to do the DOD delete and mate it to a 4L80E with a 3600 9.5" converter.

This combo will replace my 385 sbc stroker in my Datsun 240Z. I am swapping to get away from the carb set up. My old combo went 9.72 at 138, car weighs 2900 with me in it.

Any advice, pro's and cons would be appreciated as I am new to the LS stuff, always been a carb first gen sbc person until now!

What cam spec's are you all currently running with this motor? I am going to keep the bottom end stock and add a little spray. I am looking at mainly drag racing with some cruising thrown in, I drive it to and from the track!

Thanks
Mike

With the 4.0 bore I would go back to cathedral style head for starters. The valve shrouding on the 6.0 with ls3 style heads is gonna limit ptv clearance and cam selection.

The name of the game is what do ya wanna spend?

Spoke to Geoff over at EPS and he recommeneded a cam with the following specs 230/242 with 600 lift and 113 Lobe seperation. It makes good sense since my ride is maybe 2900 lbs with me in it and loves mid/hi end power.

Thanks for the recommendation, he was very helpful and informative.

Thanks,
Mike

A little dilemma , a friend with the same exact motor is going to a turbo set up and is selling his cam cheap. The cam he is pulling out is a EPS 226/234 .598/.612 with a 114+2 LSA. Any thoughts aboutthis cam in a 2900 lb car on a 150 shot? My only concern is it to small and too much torque for my set up after all it was in a Pontic G8.

I think that it would work, however you would be better off getting a camshaft spec'd specifically for your setup.

Agreed, I have never been a fan of buying a cam just because it was a good deal. I would get what was matched to you setup.

Just wanted to say that I ordered the 230/242 cam package from Geoff @ EPS and he was extremly helpful and informative. I would not hesitate to do business with him anytime.

Thanks
Mike
