Default 06 GXP 5.3 engine questions

I have a chance to pickup a 06 5.3 from a GXP. Will this engine bolt up like a standard rear wheel drive 5.3/6.0 engine? Is the crank and bellhousing bolt pattern the same?

I bought a tottled out 06 gxp a couple years back and got the engine in a 84 regal with a glide behind it. That's the best way to build a save $$

Thanks. So your saying it will bolt up like a standard rwd car or truck engine?

Here a difference quoted from the SA Design book "How to build big-inch GM LS-series engines" page 22.
". . . GM shortened the LS4's overall length - from crankshaft to flexplate - by 13mm and streamlined the accessory drive"
I do not know if this was done by shortening the crankshaft snout or a little bit from the back of the crankshaft. When converted to inches the difference is .511 inch.

I too have seen this, my take is it is shorter on both ends. Guys on the Bullet are leading me to believe the bellhousing pattern is smaller as well.

The LS4 is a bastard engine. There are several differences, including crank, starter and bellhousing pattern. The GXP engine may not be an LS4 though. I thought they were only in the Impala.

The bell housing is smaller. Any 60 degree tranny will work but they sell an adapter plate for the bellhousing. Get some motor mounts. A flexplate. And a starter and ur golden.

I am running a glide, so I can only use a standard chevy pattern. Also I now know on the Ls4 the starter bolts to the bellhousing, with no provision to bolt it to the block.

I believe the motor mounts are in a totally different location.

Please explain to us, in detail, what kind of fabrication he will have to do to make this work.

IIRC,

LS4s have 243 heads. My 07 Monte SS did. OLDER trucks do too. I GOT SOME 243s from a 07 Silverado 5.3.

Default 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix gxp questions

I purchased an 06 grand prize gxp with ls4 5.3. It’s kind of a basket case. My question has to do with the DOD it has codes for that system something like active fuel management solenoid #4 and #1out of range or shorted or something I have to rescan it I don’t remember. My question is when I do the DOD delete and have the ecm tune to temp it will that issue go away? Next the trans shift hard it was replaced and the fluid is nice and clean I’m wondering if the motor is running badly the trans will not shift correctly… right?
