Default LS3 build questions

I'm about to put together a LS3 to go in my 2000 camaro, so far I have bought a set of LS3 pistons and rods which are new take outs 0 miles and a new ls3 block. My question is which crank do I look for that will go right in without any balancing, I know I'll probably have to change it from 58x to 24x. I found this at a great deal "GM Performance 12584997 CRANKSHAFT ASM" am I good to go with it?

ls3 cranks have same stroke as 5.7 and 6.0 cranks with a 3.622 stroke. i would say look for ls1 or ls2 cranks over truck cranks due to having gun drilled journals, making them slightly lighter and less rotational weight.... crank part number ends in 2516 if i recall correctly. good luck with your project....

Wouldn't those cranks have to be balanced to use with a ls3?

most LS cranks are the same. The LS7 and LS9 are the only engines you really have to worry about not having compatible parts. you can get Eagle, scat, and callies performance cranks with 4.0-4.125in stroke. the eagle is the 4.125 and its +/-2% bobweight.

I found a l92 crank pullout so now all I have to do is get the reluctor changed to a 24x. After calling about 10 machine shops I finally found one that can do it and has the Goodson tool. So if any one in north ga needs one done Lamar Waldon in doraville can do it.

Besides that you are going to need the harness for the knock sensor to be mounted externally on the block too. Why not just get with TSP or SDparts? They can get you the whole conversion.

I'd highly recommend having a machine shop check the balance of the assembly before you begin the build just to make sure it is within tolerance. It won't cost much especially if they're doing other work. Where'd you get the block from?

This would be a good investment.
