Default Plan for Stock Block LS3 500rwhp

Ive been waiting a while for Trick Flow to release their LS3 heads and now theyre here. The flow numbers are awesome and the heads keep flowing to .700 lift. My current setup is a cam only stock block LS3 with stock LS3 heads and intake. The cam is a 231/236 114lsa and the headers are 1 3/4 from TSP. This combo currently makes 470/460 to the wheels. I was wondering if the new heads along with 1 7/8 headers will get my to or passed the 500rwhp mark. What do you guys think?

Umm they are not here yet bud! They've been saying that for almost 2 years now lol.

I'd look into the Lethal racing NightFury cam to make use of the flow of those heads. It's been laying down some pretty good numbers on dyno's and tracks. It's very well mannered on the street too. But unless you get a setup for .700 lift then that's irrelevant. Just my .2

You can place an order with Summit already. They ship out 5-6-13 according to them.

I thought the same but my friend called me the other day saying he called Trick Flow and they said they were finally getting them out to vendors. So far the only vendor Ive seen to even offer them is Summit. I think TFS posted it as well on one of these forums.

Also looking at the PRC 255cc LS3 heads. They seem to be making some very good power and have incredible flow numbers as well.

Quick question, I havent looked that deep into LS3 heads so, does a 6 bolt aftermarket head bolt right up to stock block? Just asking because Ive seen heads advertised as oem 5 bolt and aftermarket 6 bolt patterns.

Got a pm from Trick Flow saying they just finished testing and hope to ship their 255cc heads to vendors within 3 weeks. Im in no rush so I'll wait. I also wanna see some results but man im liking the PRC heads too. Looks like I can bump my compression from 10.5:1 to 11.4:1 with those heads and 64-65cc chambers. That should squeeze some nice power out of the cam too.

Anyone here have those PRC heads on their motor?

To much head Blasphemy. Think about it, its a 265cc intake port, 10cc over the Trick flow, 2cc less than stock LS3, and flows more on the intake every where compared to your other two choices. Not to mention the LS7 intakes flow much better.

Yeah but I was wondering if the flow velocity suffers with a smaller bore in lower rpms. Then the car might be a dog down low. I also want to keep my same cam for now. I'll look a bit deeper into LS7 small bore heads.

the 1 7/8 headers will greatly help. as for heads, one thing i would consider is the valve guides, if bronze, which need replacing more often from what ive read. i like the prc 250 myself.

I'd just get them ported a little. 1-7/8, and could've went with bigger cam for sure. My ls6 cam only car isbigger than it

So was my LS6 cam but there is much less valve clearance on stock LS3 heads with 15* valves. That really limits you on cam size. Even then it makes great power for cam only.

Oh i thought they had great clearance. Flycut. Or just try heads and headers. Alot of money for a 20hp gain imo.

Well I got my eyes on PRC heads. My debate is to go with the 255cc or 260cc heads since eventually I'll go up to a 418ci stroker but that wont be for a while. Gonna mill the heads for 11.4:1 with my cam and probably go with 1 7/8 headers. Im thinking that should get me passed the 500rwhp mark.

ya for sure, a good cam and ported heads is pretty common to hit 500 rwhp. with aftermarket heads u should be there no problem.

upping the compression alone might get you to the 500 mark
