Default any tricks to pulling this pulley?

ok here is a picture of my pulley. I put a old school three bolt puller on it today had 3 bolts into the outside ring of the pulley. I left the stock bolt in about 5 turns with enough room for the pulley to come forward. I tightened the bolt on the tool up against the crank bolt and the puller bolt stripped. now it was a old tool I had. should I get a new tool and do it the same way again or is there a better way? should I try it with a impact next time?

get new 3 jaw puller and get a threaded rod so that you can have some good bite on the threads and not strip the threads .

Possibly when you were cranking down on the puller rod/bolt, once it set against the pulley bolt it just pressed against it and then screwed it back into the crank. You have to remove the bolt.

I bought a new tool this morning and the pulley came right off. I guess my old tool was just worn out
