Default ls2 into a 2000 ss

hello, i am looking to do a engine swap into my camaro. the engine is a 2005 GTO LS2 Engine, ik the swap is possible and has been done before but i was just wanting to know the details and the run down on the actual install or will it just drop in and plug back up just like the ls1 came out?

and also i am buying the engine with the 2005 Manual T56 Tremec Six Speed Transmission and taking out the t56 i have in it now. will the tranny just slide in the same?

Also the LS1 and T56 will be for sale once it gets pulled if anyone is interested in purchasing 85,000 miles stock nothing wrong just doing the swap for performance.

The knock sensors will have to be relocated to the outside of the motor from under the valley cover. The cam sensor is also on the timing cover at the front of the motor instead of in the back. You will need extension harnesses for both of these. I believe lingenfelter makes them. Other than that everything else should be the same. As far as the tranny, you will need to swap the shifter cup from Fbody T56 to the GTO unit to retain your Fbody shifter. You'll also have to obviously swap the tranny mount over and you should be good to go.

ok thanks yonerhottlt1

two more questions 1. what do you guys think would be a good price to sell my ls1 and t56 for?
2. how much whp can the ls2 and gto t56 handle, shooting for 475-500whp with H/C/I

If I had to throw a number out there I would have to say around $3500. And that LS2 and GTO tranny should be able to handle that no problem.

lingenfelter makes the harnesses you're looking for and also ls1speed.com has them

if your worried about the transmission you can always rebuild it pretty quick while u have it out like i did
https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-tr...6-project.html

its getting paired with the ls7 im building but it was pretty easy to do and would handle it no problem

Sounds scary, what was your overall cost of the rebuild?

well i started with a C5 transmission, starting with his gto transmission all he needs is new shaft, tail housing and syncro rebuild kit and the only weak point would be the gears themselves... not exactly sure when they give way, seems to vary

Let me know if you get to the point you want to sell the T-56. I may have a buyer for you. As we live close it would make it easy.
