local machinist re-sleeved #7 and now #5 is distorted
Iv'e had my LS1 block and heads at a local machine shop in my area. I originally took it in to have the #7 which was cracked re-sleeved , the rest of the cylinders honed and have the heads checked out. Now upon installing the new sleeve he claims the # 5 is distorted by .005'' I guess he had to weld up some cracks before he installed the new sleeve which caused the cylinder next to it to distort. He suggested i bore all the cylinders and get new pistons to correct the problem. But the other cylinders to me looked ok, not really any bore taper or ridge. My question is to anyone that is familiar with machining these aluminum LS blocks is that amount of cylinder distortion gonna throw the piston on the #5 out of alignment enough to cause failure. Could it possibly be honed out to be corrected. btw car is an 02 Z28.
