Few out of 10,000 the guy's who have had problems are few.......But to be 1 of those few???? problems will occur. They have a lot of great short travel lifters Morel, Johnson ,Lunati......There are few with problems but for the masses......They do work great.

Just get the preload right. And that means checking every single valve. Because you only have .058" worth of travel. If you're off .025" the wrong way, you will have issues.

Ha. Ha. Ha.

No.

You'd be surprised how far everything is off in these motors, piston to piston. Valve to valve. It's crazy.

I've used and sold both with good results.....if you already ordered the Comp's I wouldn't worry about them.

As Jake mentioned though.....be prepared to check every one if you want to do this correctly. That will assure you get the best results from the install. There are lots of variables/stacking of tolerances to account for (cam base circles, valve job depth, valve margin thickness, valve overall length, rocker arm variances in cup depth, etc.).

ALL of this effects the amount of preload in the system and your window for error in pushrod length is much more narrow. A standard lifter, LS7 lifter, etc. has close to .200 plunger travel offering a much larger window of error but of course doesn't offer the performance advantage a well made limited travel lifter will off you.

They make alot of OEM and aftermarket stuff for various companies (including GM) but I know for a fact the Comp limited travel supplier/builder is not Johnson.

I think they are both good pieces (and literally have ran both in personal builds and my customer's builds)....the more expensive Johnson short travel has the pressurized axle oiling which is a nice perk but to be fair they are higher priced than the Comp so it makes sense.

OP....PM me if you need more info etc.
