Default bummed out.

So.. I was picking up a long block in dallas from new mexico and when I got there the guy decided he didn't want to sell the motor anymore. So I drove 500 miles and he changed his mind. I was picking up a roller too but I'm kinda upset that he told me something completely different for a week and waited until I showed up at his shop to pick it up. Needless to say I'm looking for parts. I'm looking for a bare ls2 block, l92 heads... I'm trying to do a 408 but if I can find some decent heads at a good price I'll build accordingly. It's going through a th350 and 9" with 4:30s and a spool. car will not be driven on the street but once a month. Any advice on building one of these from scratch? I've done sbc before but never an ls. Looking for at least 480 to the ground, but I'd really like 500, just to say I have it :-)

Mistake, I meant an lq 6.0 block. Not really looking for an alum block but I'd do that too.

I have a 48000 mile LS2 short block out of my 2005 GTO I would consider selling, what would it be worth to you?

I have dealt with people like that before, I drove 3 hours to pick up a toolbox once, when I got close to the guys house he told me he sold it the night before. I called him earlier in the day and he left that little fact out, then he was a dick on the phone. I should have just drove the extra distance and "talked it out"

Sucks. I guess it is what it is. Bought an l92. Going to do a custom grind cam and leave everything else stock for now. Still need an ls3 intake and I have no idea if I can use an ls3 throttle body. How big are stock l92 springs?

He should have at least reimbursed you for all the gas you used getting out there.

Yeah he ended up giving me a few hundred bucks off the roller but it's the principle I guess. I'm still very happy with my roller.

Just go to Brian Tooley's site. He has springs just for LS heads on his site.

LS3 T/B is dbw. Are you going to use that or go cable driven?

Honestly I'm not sure. Can I use the drive by wire? I was under the impression that I needed to swap it out with a cable unit.

You have to use the pcm that the motor has if you are going to use the DBW. If you have a 4th gen pcm then you have to use a cable driven.

OK, I'm glad to hear that he comped you a bit for your time & fuel at least. When I first read this, I thought that you'd had to drive 500 miles, & then drive back empty-handed - and had that happened to me, that wouldn't have gone over well AT ALL.

I can certainly understand you being bummed, but it's not NEARLY as bad as it might've been...

dude i would be pissed. if i were you, i probably would have walked on the roller strictly for the principal.

i drove down to san antonio from austin to pick up a car once (no where near as far as you drove). i loaded up the truck and car dolly after work. drove down to san antonio and the dude told me its no longer for sale. i was so pissed.
