Default LSA Rings?

I bought a used LSA short block out of an '09 CTS-V to replace the LS6 that was in my '04 CTS-V (which has a cracked block.) I'd like to "freshen" the short block with new bearings and rings since it's out and I'm taking it apart to clean and inspect everything anyway.

I don't see any ring "kits" available from the usual suppliers. Should I buy individual rings (1.5mm top, 1.2mm 2nd and 2.0mm oil), if so what would be recommended? Alternately, should I just put a new set of stock rings from GM back in?

The motor will have a stock LSA bottom end, CNC's heads, upgraded cam/valve train and current plan is to re-use the Magnuson MP112 from my LS6 on top.

I would call around and see what different manufacturers offer and compare to the stock rings. The stock rings are nice, but nothing special so I wouldn't pay for GM rings if they're expensive. Total Seal, Mahle, etc may have something just as good or better for a more modest price.

Total Seal told my machine shop that they do not make a set for the LSA but could piece one together with individual rings for each position. Similarly, I haven't been able to find a "kit" or "set" from the other manufacturers at the online sites which is why I asked the question here.

According to here http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...l#.UmZvChacRWI the LS9 rings are different from and better than the LS3 sets.

Does anyone know the GM part number for the LSA/LS9 ring sets?

I'm pretty sure you're correct on that info. IIRC, the LS3 rings I got from Hastings were 1.5/1.5/3.0mm. Someone should be able to look up the PN for you though. Maybe try calling the Parts Dept at your local dealership.
