Default LS7 resleeve question

I have the opportunity to buy an ls7 shortblock that has been torn down and the engine builder discovered a crack in the #5 bore. The rotating assembly is all good. The guy wants a grand for the shortblock w/o the cam. Is it worth it?

No. It will cost 2 grand to get the block re-sleeved correctly.

Pass. Once you sleeve it you will be better with new pistons then the rods will not work with the new piston then you might as well get a new crank.

It is about $2400 for a erl drysleeve

I'd say 1 grand for the LS7 rotating assembly alone (pistons, titanium rods, crank) is a helluva deal.

For $1K buy it. Resleeve, rebush the Ti rods, and slap in some new pistons. You can cut the crank and run it wet sump if you want to also. If you change out the rods you will be paying a lot for Mallory to rebalance it.

I say buy it as well. I paid $1k for mine and it had a bad #7. Who said this hobby is cheap? The LS7 comes with billet main caps which is a plus over any other LS block. I'm sending mine to ERL as well as soon as I'm ready to start on my 68 C10. And, once resleeved, it will be twice as better and stronger than any other stock GM LS anything....think about it. Oh, and it's a 427 ci....hello? Can you hear me out there? LOL!!
