questions on a new block
Hello friends,
This is my first post so I will give you some background. I have a 01 camaro ss, automatic, LT headers, lid, LM exhaust. My starter mount broke off my block. I'm looking at a 402ci small block. My question is will I need more parts or expect to have to pay for other upgrades for this to work?
Much obliged to any help.

Not sure what your looking for here. A 402 is an LS2 with a 4" crank. Yes, to get there you'll need upgraded parts, but many of the odds and ends from your block transfer right over.

U will need to move Knock sensors to side of the block and a ls2 timing cover with front cam sensor with necessary extension harness. Also depending on what reluctor is on the crank 24x or 58x. If it's the 58x u will need to either change to 24x or get the converter box from Lingerfeltor. Everything else should swap over unless ur gonna use ls3 topend. If u do then u would need a map extension harness because it moves to the front of the intake instead of rear.

I'm probably getting it done at lg motor sports. The sales rep recommended the zl402 402. He said with install about 5 grand. I'm assuming it is complete. I have not heard back from them yet. This is not my expertise. So any suggestions are welcomed. got a couple of days to decide on what to do.

Hey Rob, yeah man my block broke! So I'm not sure what options I got. I know I need a new block, so I said it's time to upgrade. But I am on a budget 5 to 6 grand. I don't have a great deal of knowledge in this area. My car is my kid and I want good things for it, but I don't know what to do! I wasn't expecting this. I'm looking for suggestions Rob.

Been awhile, my car is still being worked on. I ended up on a ls3 414 ci by Scoggin dickey! I'm also getting g5x1 cam, ls3 heads,ls3 intake, circle d converter and the bells and whistles in between. Does it sound good? Any thoughts on what I can expect the dyno to say

Went with a crate engine from Jegs for my swap. Made 427rwhp on a Mustang dyno.
Might want to extend the budget a little bit just in case.
OP where are you located?

Yeah, my budget has been extended a couple times already! I'm near Dallas TX. What set up did you have before and what do you have now?
