Default Bearing Clearance, what is best

I have a 4.00 crank in a iron block 6.0 ly6 block, it is more of a road race motor than a drag style, so I like to keep the RPM higher for longer periods of time,

What is everyone doing for Bearing Clearance with the Clevitte H bearing

I was told .0015 to .0020 for rods and mains

Does that sound good or am I off base with that,

That is way way tight with a iron block.
.0025 is as tight as I would go with iron

Depends on your power output and what crank you use, some will flex more then others

0.0025" Rods and Mains

Go coated on the mains, that will allow it to grow to what it needs

Just for my knowledge, what does connecting rod bearing clearance have to do with the block and what it's made out of? As in, why is that clearance too tight for a block made out of cast iron vs. one that is made out of aluminum?

That seems a little tight for a road race application. The general rule of thumb is .001 per inch of journal. Applications can change things but we generally see about .0020-0025.

Rods I would set them at .0025 with a 2.100 pin. Alum block will expand with heat by upwards of .001 iron does not expand like that.

To help it is a LY6 Iron Block,
All internals are from Texas Speed
Lunati 4.0 Voodoo Crank
Rods are Compstar H beam with ARP 2000
Weisco pistons 10.5 to one
LS92 heads nothing done just stock
and the texas speed oil pump

Really no budget just want it right spun a bearing last trip,

It is in a offroad race car,

Using a Federal .0001 to .0005 Bore gage

You need to figure out why it spun a bearing. There is always a reason.

just tore down the bottom end, I screwed up by not line boring the bottom end, spun the same bearing, So off to the machine shop, going to put a new crank in from Lunati

not sure if even the old one is worth anything, it is a 10-Rods and the 20-Mains, the mains will have to cut to 30, so is a 10/30 worth anything on a 4.00 stroke,
