Stock bore forged pistons in my LS3?
I have a LS3. I want more compression and my heads are 75cc and I don't want to mill them much (don't want a problem with intake alignment or thin decks). The bores on the motor look fine, just glazed a little. No scratches from what I could see. I was wondering if I could just take the block to my machine shop and have them measure the bores and possibly do a light hone to the size recommended by piston manufacturer. They don't have a torque plate for an LS motor(or SBF), so will that be a problem? I'm guessing the pistons won't require much more than what a drill hone would take off(just to deglaze the cylinders).
I guess my first question should have been do I even need dome pistons rather than the stockers? I'm trying to make 600+at the the motor. I got a FTI cam(will probably get a new one custom spec'd from him), WCCH Stg 2 LS3 heads with hollow valves, Mast single plane, headers.
