I am getting ready to put together an LQ4 408 from atk engines. I am wanting some opinions on what heads, custom cam, and intake people recommend. I would like around 550 rwhp na with my auto and Im going to have a 250-300 hit of nitrous on top of it. This will mainly be a street racing car but will make an appearance at the track once a month also. I am leaning towards ported ls3 heads and ported ls3 intake with a custom cam with compression in the 10.5-11.1 range. Thanks

550rwhp is a tall order thru an auto but it can be done. You will need a good set of heads whether it be cathedral or rectangular port. A custom cam will be a must. A ported stock intake will work well but I think you might have to go to a FAST intake to take advantage of its better breathing. Remember, every little bit counts. Electric water pump, decent headers, 11.5-12.0 range on the compression.

Thanks for your input. Im not sure which top end to go with. Either ported ls3 with a custom cam or maybe ported 243's with a fast intake or ever tfs 235's with a fast 102 intake.

I dont know if the 243's are going to cut it.

Try some mast ls3 heads and ported fast and a good custom cam! Should be about 525-540 rwhp
