Default Odd fuel mileage

Hey everyone(: its been awhile since I've been on here, to much work. I purchased a 6spd SS sometime back and ordered several things with the purchase. I put LT headers w/o cats tune and KNcai and the fuel mileage increased with okay power gains averages 18.4mpg surprised over the 15.9mpg. Anyway, I just got around putting the LS9 camshaft in and it increased 21mpg and still going up, now 21.5mpg. I don't see how this is possible from being larger? Has anyone experienced this, there is no knock retarding being seen. Is this due to the Larger exhaust overlap?
Just curious.

The LT's and CAI increased the efficiency of the engine due to the fact that they let it breath better. I am not sure what the specs are on the ls9 cam compared to the stock cam you had, but if I had to guess it would also help the engine breath better leading to better efficiency....given you keep the pedal off the floor boards lol....but that is just a theory...
