Default How much would you de-rate a .010 over aluminum block

I've taken my LS2 apart after 5k miles to prep for a FI build, and found some light scuffing in it. So I took it to a local reputable engine builder. He's worried that going .005 over on it won't clean it up enough. My question is, if I have it bored over to 4.010", how hard would I be able to push it?
I know I'm kinda killing him by not having new pistons in hand to go off of, but I hate to buy $800-1100 in new pistons that I'd be right on the verge of not being able to use.

Most off-the-shelf piston kits I've seen are either 4.000", 4.005", or 4.030" bores. I'm kinda looking at Weisco 4.005" -20cc pistons. I talked to one of their techs today and based on the HP I'm shooting for, they recommend going .001" over to cover expansion.

What do you all think about which direction I should go?

IIRC the LS1 blocks can only go .010" over but the LS2 blocks can easily go .020"

I'd say do it, custom pistons are not that big a deal. My LS2 is .030 over, LS3 top end, mid frame turbo kit in the works now. I've been told to keep it @ 900-1000 hp. Doubt I'll listen .....

Thanks for the comments
I'm still waiting to hear what the machinist took it to, they got a little backlogged this week. It's likely I'll be ordering the Weisco pistons next week. They were pretty reasonable at ~$970 custom bore with rings and upgraded wristpins. I would have liked to go with the Diamond customs since they're local, but they were near $1100 without rings or wristpins

Man, I can't wait to get this thing re-assembled and back in the car. Seriously got a craving for tigging some turbo piping now...

The Wiseco slugs should work out well for ya. Most machine shops prefer to have the pistons in hand so they know the alloy material and skirt measurements and then can put the bore at the correct clearances.

I just heard from my machinist today. Sounds like I'm gonna be good with 4.005 (Plus .001 for PtW clearance). Always nice when you can just get away with an off-the-shelf part. Thanks for everyones input
