Aloha from Hawaii!!! New to the forum and since this is the Tech forum I thought Iʻd ask my ???? here if that okay?

DISCAIMER: I am not very mechanically inclined!!!

Iʻve tried searching EVERYWHERE for my answers but have yielded no results... So I have a 2011 Tahoe with the 5.3. I want more low end because Iʻm on an island so high rpm is not realistic. The research I have done so far has lead me to this...

I am swapping out my stock heads with Ported and Polished 241ʻs and matching it with a Compcam 214/224/ 115 lsa. I was wondering which gasket kit to get to fit my 241ʻs being on a 5.3... Also I was wondering which valves to get for these heads? I was also wondering if its possible to swap out my stock intake manifold for an LS1 or LS6 one while keeping my Airaid Jr? Am I missing anything???

I have a master mechanic friend who is doing all the work and I am learning as we are going along... However I want to do the research (being a teacher and always want to learn new things) so I know exactly whats going on...

Sorry but Iʻm a NOOB but I am doing my research!!! Just need to be pointed in the right direction...

Thanks all!!!

Why is high rpm not realistic? I mean I know the islands aren't huge but damn you should be able to stretch the legs on that 5.3 somewhere....

H3 is plently long. I've been up to 165mph in a car on H3 (bumpy!), H1 (before the power plant past Kapolei), and H2 (past Mililani). Hell I've been up to 165on my ZX9r on Kunia Rd headed towards Kapolei/Eva Beach. Plenty of straights long enough. Just not in a Tahoe. LOL.

Wait, what island? Koho`olawe? LOL.

RPM's isn't the issue here, it's when the power comes on if I'm translating your wants correctly. Too easy. Stall and gear. Add a 2600-2800 rpm stall (for a stock cam), and some 4.10's. You'll be a happy camper. Beyond that add some typical bolt ons (CAI, headers, cat back, free mods, Polish TB, and a tune). Want more after that STS that beast!

But if you're planning on going further than bolt on's don't go with a 2600-2800 stall. Go higher and do it only once.

True!!! But not in a Tahoe!!!

Okay I already have Airaid Jr, LPP LT Headers (No Cat) with Borla Pro XS and a Black Bear EFI Tune... Planning on getting a stall but keeping my gears... Maybe the 4.10ʻs later (Gotta save up more $$$$)!!!

You still live in HI???

What stall should I get for a 214/224 115 lsa Compcam???

Nah man, I've been of the island since 2008.

Not sure on the stall for that cam. If I had to guess based off the duration and LSA given I'd say 3000-3400. Maybe higher. Hopefully someone with more in depth knowledge with LSx can chime in.

Honestly it sounds like you need an F- body or Corvette.

Your truck intake will probably make better low end than a LS1 or LS6.
